The first day of fall is just around the corner, coming this month, and what better way to start the best season of the year than baking a delicious sweet streusel pumpkin loaf? It’s nothing crazy advanced to start you off; it’s quick, simple, and easy to make. The brown sugar streusel melts in your mouth, and the bread is moist and tender. It makes the best pastry for your morning coffee and as an after-dinner dessert. Save this recipe for when you’re decorating your space with fall décor to have as a sweet treat when you’re done.

Ingredients for Streusel Pumpkin Loaf:

For the streusel:

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 6 tbsp light brown sugar

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon of salt

  • ¼ cup unsalted melted butter

For the loaf:

  • 15 oz pumpkin puree

  • ¾ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup of light brown sugar

  • ½ cup of granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder

  • ¾ tsp baking soda and salt

  • 5 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp nutmeg

  • A pinch of ground cloves

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour

Steps to make the streusel:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until completely combined. Add in your melted butter and mix it into the dry ingredients with your hands or a fork until you get a crumbly texture. Set your bowl aside to make the loaf.

Steps to make the loaf:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line your loaf pan with parchment paper. In a large bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Once your ingredients are mixed, add your eggs one at a time until combined. Whisk in your dry ingredients: baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Fold in your flour with a spatula until no streaks of flour. Finally, pour your mixture into your prepared pan and sprinkle the streusel over the top, lightly pressing it into the batter. Bake for 65-80 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the loaf cool for 10 minutes before cutting. You can make a glaze and pour it over the loaf for an added touch of sweetness.
