Don’t Miss Out on the Cinco de Mayo Celebration with These Events

Start May on a buzz by attending a Cinco de Mayo event to celebrate the military victory of defeating the French troops in Puebla City. Every year, Puebla residents celebrate Cinco de Mayo with parades, speeches, and reenactments of the battle. It’s also heavily celebrated in the United States by Mexicans to showcase their pride in their Mexican culture. However, it has easily become a holiday enjoyed by everyone. Mexican music, food, and drinks always bring people together to indulge in tacos and tequila. There are a few spots along the Central Coast that are celebrating Cinco de Mayo full force. Here are a few you don’t want to miss out on.
Hang out on Kimpton Canary’s rooftop on Cinco de Mayo
Kimpton Canary is having a Cinco de Mayo rooftop party from 5 to 7 p.m. They’re going to have tacos, Flecha Azul tequila tastings, and music put together by Nick Delfino. It’s the perfect event to enjoy after you clock out of your Tuesday shift. Enjoy the sunset from the rooftop while sipping your drink and relaxing for a couple of hours. You can buy your tickets before attending for $20 or pay $30 at the door.
Visit Ancient Peaks Winery
If you don’t want to drive too far from home, check out Ancient Peaks Winery for your Cinco de Mayo celebration. Located in Santa Margarita, you can spend most of your day at Ancient Peaks if you have the day off, since they’re doing all-day Cinco de Mayo festivities from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Enjoy their barbacoa tostada, which is slow-cooked and flavorful. Trying their “Meadarita” (a margarita made with mead thistle wine) is a must. You can make a reservation before to secure your spot, but they take walk-ins in case you have other events to attend.
Santa Maria Elks Lodge Family Cinco de Mayo Event
If you don’t have time on Tuesday to party it up for Cinco de Mayo, then you can try attending the Santa Maria Elk’s Lodge event, where you can take your kids instead of leaving them at home. They’ll have kids' activities, piñatas, food for sale, ballet folklorico, and a DJ. You can also enter their raffles for a chance to win some fun prizes. The event is Sunday, May 3rd, from 12 to 5 p.m.
