Summer wardrobes typically consist of a couple of pairs of shorts, tanks, and sandals, but there’s more to the basics that can make your outfit interesting. Swapping out basic flip flops for a ballet flat elevates your shoe game and your entire look. Layers will also make your summer fits more chic, whether through your tops or accessories. We’ve scrolled through countless Pinterest posts and TikTok videos with outfit inspo to take your summer looks from cute to stylish.

  1. Crochet tops, bottoms, or sets

Add some texture flair to your summer ‘fits with a crochet accent piece. Crochet pullover and short sets are effortless to throw on over your swimsuit for a beach day. The boho-chic look can be used as a daytime date outfit, too. Look for a colorful crochet halter top and maxi skirt. Crochet doesn’t have to be reserved for the pool or festival; you can incorporate it into your daily summer wardrobe.

  1. Ballet flats

Ballet flats are currently all the hype. We’ve given sneakers their spotlight, but it’s time to switch it up. Mary Jane flats have been everyone’s go-to stylish ballet flat. They’re comfortable and available in multiple colors. You can pair them with any outfit. Choose from a single or double strap, a squared or rounded toe, and patent, matte, or suede material. Finish off your outfit with some ballet flats for a pop of color in pink, red, or yellow. You can also spruce up your shoe game by pairing them with socks.

If you can’t let go of your favorite sneakers, multiple sneaker companies are turning their all-star shoes into ballet flats. Adidas and Puma, for example, turned their Sambas and Speedcats into ballet flats. They’re perfect for a more casual outfit. You can also wear them to make a dressy outfit more casual.

  1. Lace trim tops or linen tops with lace trim

The boho-chic style isn’t for everyone, which is why the Mediterranean style is a fun alternative for summer outfitting. Linen tops with lace trim paired with denim shorts and ballet flats would take your styling to the next level. Swap the denim for linen (pants, skirts, and shorts) for a fun set you can wear anywhere and stay cool during the summer heat. Keep your set simple with some cute sandals, or dress it up with a pair of heels. Personalize the ‘fit your own way.

  1. Accessorize with scarves

One trend we’ve been loving lately is using a scarf as more than a hair piece; instead, using it as a belt. Scarves are made with so many fun designs and colors that if there’s one thing you need to add to your summer wardrobe, it’s this one. Wrap your scarf around a skirt and pants for texture and layers.

  1. Straw bag accessories

Purses are our most important accessories when completing our outfits. While we love a leather bag, straw bags are the new it-girl bag of the season. They come in many styles, from totes to slouch to crossbody, so you can pick one that’s right for you. Straw bags also complement every summer outfit for every occasion.
