Top Three Fall Activities To Check Out This November

Don’t let the heat stop you from enjoying autumn on the Central Coast. Make the most of your fall days by getting out of the house and exploring your town. If you’ve already decorated your home for fall, you’re a step ahead. If not, head to Dollar Tree for faux foliage to add color to your kitchen or living room, and pick up fall-themed pillows at HomeGoods to spruce up your bedroom. Then check out a few places that will make your days feel more like the season.
Visit the SLO Botanical Garden

We can’t do much about the weather, but you can still enjoy the outdoors and plenty of fall activities. Visit the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden in El Chorro Regional Park. According to the garden’s website, the 150-acre garden is continually being developed with more plants that support the ecosystems of the world’s five Mediterranean climate regions. Take a day to explore, see plants you’ve never seen before and bring your Polaroid to take photos among the foliage.
The garden is also hosting events through the end of the year. From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 8, the garden’s team will host a Fall Fused Glass Class, where participants can create a personalized fused-glass panel for their home or garden. Students will learn how to cut glass, and all materials will be provided. The class is a good fit for anyone interested in learning a new skill or doing something fun in the morning. Slots cost $65 on the garden’s website, plus a $50 materials fee on the day of the class. Members can receive a discount on their reservation with the code MemberTen.
Go Apple Picking at SLO Creek Farms

Spend a late afternoon apple picking at SLO Creek Farms. The 40-acre orchard has many varieties to choose from. The farmers don’t use pesticides on their trees, so you can eat the apples straight from the branch. The farm is a good spot to take a walk with a loved one along the many paths and snap some photos. Pets are welcome, too. Once you’ve filled your car with apples, bake them into apple pie, apple streusel loaf or a warm topping for your oatmeal. The farm also grows flowers, so you can pick a few to put in a vase at home.
For the Adults: Pumpkin Bowling at Bovino Winery

Show off your bowling skills with a pumpkin as your ball at Bovino Winery’s fourth annual Pumpkin Bowling event from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 7. Enjoy wine, tri-tip sandwiches and a chance to win a magnum of Dan’s Cab. The player with the best score after three rounds wins the magnum. The event is a good fit for the highly competitive and for those who simply want a good time. Make a party reservation on Bovino’s website before spots sell out.
