Patterns Are The Fashion Statement For Spring

Pastel-colored clothing is a non-negotiable for spring. They’re fresh and vibrant, which flows with the spring ambiance. We’re always looking for a way to amp up our style, so we’re going to start focusing on adding patterns to our outfits. Patterns elevate a basic outfit, adding contrast to neutral pieces. They’re easier to style and create a statement piece that captures more attention.

Outfits consist of three pieces: top, bottom, and shoes. Oftentimes, we get stuck on finding the right top with your pants and shoes and vice versa, but patterns make building an outfit simple. Wear patterns throughout your tops and bottoms, or mix between the two. Pair a polka dot top with your favorite pair of jeans and kitten heels for a night out. Or, throw on a floral-print skirt with a white tee for a walk around town. There aren’t any rules when it comes to spring fashion.

On the other hand, add patterns to your wardrobe through accessories, such as headbands, scarves, or keychains, for a pop of color if wearing them is outside of your comfort zone. We gathered a few inspo pictures from Pinterest to refer to when you’re putting together an outfit.

Polka Dots

Polka dots were a popular pattern in the fall, and they’re back for spring. Wear a polka dot maxi skirt with a white fitted tee and sandals for a casual look. It makes the perfect beach or picnic outfit on a warm spring day. The weather can be a little inconsistent during spring. On cooler days, you can layer a sweater to keep warm. Maxi skirts are a fun piece to dress up or down, as you can wear them with sneakers or heels, making them perfect for sunny days.

Gingham

If you have some trouble creating fun outfits, gingham tops will change your life. Their pattern is cutesy, interesting, and versatile. They will go with every pair of jeans you own. Gingham tops go incredibly well with jeans, so they’re easy to style, especially on days you have no idea what to wear. Complete the outfit with ballet flats or loafers for a cute coffee run outfit. However, if you want to take it up a notch, swap out a gingham top for gingham pants or skirts. Pair them with tank tops with lacey details to mix patterns for a fun look.

Stripes

Stripes are controversial for some people. They either hate them or love them because they can create the illusion of a wider look. However, vertical stripes can create a slimmer look as opposed to horizontal lines. If you’re not a fan of stripes for tops, wear them in pants. Linen stripe pants are lightweight, casual, and available in multiple colors. Or, if you don’t mind stripes, wear them in your tops. There are various styles you can wear for a creative look, such as tops with open sides, side ties, or open necklines. Stripe tops are also another great way to piece together a style with jeans on days you dislike everything in your closet.

Floral

Floral patterns are effortless to style. They can feel impossible to pair with other items because they have a lot going on, but they truly create an outfit for you. Floral patterns feature multiple colors, allowing you to focus on one for the rest of your outfit. They’re perfect for basic tops. One outfit that always outshines is a floral-print mini skirt with a white tee and boots. It’s an elevated look that’s perfect for every occasion, whether it’s going out to eat, getting a matcha, or having a shopping day. You can swap out the white tee for a color that matches one of the flowers in your skirt to make it pop.
